Several persons have been injured at the Bamenda Food market, in the North West Region Thursday September 29, 2016 after a RAV 4 vehicle failed brakes and stormed the market destroying goods and climbing on traders. Eye witness account say the vehicle matriculated LT 640 FF was descending the Commercial avenue street at break-neck-speed with the driver, a woman who had apparently lost control, shouting for traders to give way.
The incident created commotion among traders and pedestrians who ran to all directions to save their lives. Over half a dozen persons including a primary school pupil were injured in the course. The vehicle also destroyed food stuffs as well as cloths that were hung by traders on sheds.
Those directly affected were road side traders who have installed themselves along the Food market roads. The injured victims were taken to the Bamenda General Hospital. Another road accident has occurred in Bamenda one day after that of the Food market and has left several persons in critical conditions.
