Officials of a public school in Cité, Yaoundé, with the assistance of the police, conducted an impromptu search of students' bags.

The Company for Securing Schools and Universities (CSESU) has been deployed in several high schools and colleges in Yaoundé since this morning. In one institution, CSESU officers caught a group of first and final year students consuming rice flavored with Indian hemp, Lebledparle.com reports.

The discoveries were shocking for the school officials due to the items found in the students' bags.

Among the items discovered were cannabis, small quantities of cocaine, daggers, condoms, various types of knives, etc. The fight against indiscipline and drug consumption in schools is intensifying in Yaoundé. According to Cameroon Tribune, the government bilingual daily, CSESU officers have been present in several high schools and colleges in the city since Monday morning, May 13, 2024.

Regularly called upon by school principals to address cases of indiscipline and drug consumption, CSESU officers caught a group of first and final year students in the act of consuming rice flavored with Indian hemp.

Systematic searches organized in different classrooms led to the identification of students aged 12 to 18 in possession of knives, condoms, phones, jewelry, spare clothes, and various other suspicious items.
