President Biya offers 4 billion to get schools in the Far North running,Gives Far North Governor deadline for completion of work!!
President Paul Biya has dished out this Wednesday, February 25, 2015, the sum of 4 billion FCFA to get schools in the Far North region running again as quick as possible. The Cameroonian Chief Executive gave standing instructions that the money should be used to perform emergency services in areas affected by the Boko Haram conflict. Cameroon Concord learnt Biya for the first time gave details of what should be done. Our source at the presidency of the republic hinted that the elderly statesman want repair works to commence immediately in nearly 196 classrooms and equipped with 7000 benches and chairs, 83 toilet facilities, 79 wells, 20 dormitories and 10 canteens.
The presidential directive gave a 45 days deadline for the completion of work. The governor of the Far North region, who made the news public, has pleaded with contractors to be professional and deliver on time as his job is on the line. The war against Boko Haram has caused overcrowding in many secondary schools in the Far North following the arrival of Nigerian children from across the border. President Biya also created a special fund of 350 million FCFA for the purchase of teaching materials such as chalk and textbooks.
