Douala, May 15, 2024 — The Bepanda Axe lourd district witnessed a significant security operation this morning as police and gendarmes conducted systematic searches of homes in the area.

Residents of the Bepanda Ax Heavy district woke up to the sounds of security forces conducting searches in their neighborhood. According to reports from Cameroon Concord, more than 50 mixed police-gendarme teams were deployed in the district since 4 a.m.

During the operation, security forces requested invoices for all devices found in houses. Those unable to provide the required documentation faced the confiscation of their belongings. Additionally, more than 50 motorcycles were confiscated from a parking lot during the operation after the person in charge failed to produce the necessary invoices for the vehicles.

The exact reasons behind these searches remain unknown as authorities have yet to comment on the matter. This lack of official explanation has left residents of the economic capital puzzled and concerned.
