Sexual Harassment and academic ethics in Cameroon:Professors suspended
three University professors in Cameroon have been suspended for sexually harassing female students in exchange for good grades, according to Higher Education Minister, Prof. Jacque Fame Ndongo:
1. Professor Njiale Pierre Marie, lecturer at the Faculty of Arts, Letters and Social Sciences. Njiale Pierre Marie was recorded by a student as he harassed her. He studied at Laval University in Quebec, Canada and at Paris V University in France. He is a member of the Francophone Association of Comparative Education and Vice President of Africain Education Comparée. He is the author of several scholarly publications on education in Central Africa.
2. Professor Temdjim, Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (MNF).
3. Dr. Fridolin Nke , Lecturer at the Department of Philosophy.
The names were made public by higher education minister, Prof. Fame Ndongo.
Many cases reported previously had not led to sanctions because former Rectors of the University had tried to cover up the suspended professors. Jean Emmanuel Pondi Professor, who was Secretary General of the University of Yaounde I had launched a real battle against this scourge by committing a work entitled "Sexual Harassment and academic ethics."However he did not succeed during his tenure to put a stop to the malpractise
