The former Minister of Secondary Education is reportedly dying in a Yaounde hospital. His health had prevented him from participating during a hearing at the Special Criminal Court, where he was recently being waited for a corruption case of 550 million CFA francs on premiums not paid to those responsible for the organization of GCE and BAC examinations during the years 2005-2009. 

Cameroon Concord Intel Unit gathered the CPDM regime that he was a chartered member have refused to evacuate him to Europe. Bapes Bapes's former cabinet colleague, Essimi Menye, former Minister of Agriculture benefited from the CPDM medical largesse and left the country for the US and is now seeking a job at the IMF.

Former minister Essimi Menye was also expected at the Special Criminal Court for embezzling almost 9 billion CFA francs. Briefly detained in Kodengui central prison on the 1st of April 2014, President Biya ordered the release of Bapes Bapes while on a private visit abroad. Former Minister Bapes Bapes has been crying in private of pain and suffering resulting from poor health.
