Thousands match in Yaounde calling on President Biya to declare his asset
Rita Akana
Thousands of people took to the streets today in Yaoundé, the nation’s capital calling on the Cameroonian dictator to respect Article 66 of the January 1996 Constitution which demands the Head of State and every citizen occupying public office to declare his assets. The anti Biya demo that held earlier today at the Efoulan III district was organized by a group calling itself “The Dynamic Citizen” to mark the International Human Rights Day.
The demonstrators chanted anti regime slogans and requested the immediate withdrawal of the new law advocating the death penalty in Cameroon. One of the organizers of the demonstration Jean Marc Bikoko president of the Confederation of Trade Unions revealed that the action was aimed at preventing the ruling CPDM party of Mr. Biya from enacting Article 2 of the Terrorism Act.
