BUEA, Cameroon - March 15, 2024 - The University of Buea (UB) has officially reopened its Information Technology (IT) Center in partnership with DobreTech, a local technology firm.

The refurbished center aims to position UB at the forefront of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development and entrepreneurship in Cameroon.

Official Reopening Ceremony

The re-opening ceremony, held on Thursday, March 14th, was officiated by UB's Vice Chancellor, Professor Ngomo Horace Manga. Distinguished guests included past and present university stakeholders, with a special presence by Professor Dorothy Limunga Njeuma, UB's first Vice Chancellor and the visionary force behind the IT Center's inception in 2002.

Discounted Tech Programs

Starting April 1st, the revamped IT Center will offer discounted programs in Cybersecurity and Cloud Computing. This initiative caters to the growing demand for skilled professionals in these critical tech fields.

Reaffirming UB's Commitment to Technology

Professor Manga emphasized the venture's significance, stating it positions UB "squarely in parts of ICT Development and Entrepreneurship." This move reflects the university's commitment to equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

Professor Njeuma's Reaction

Professor Njeuma expressed her delight at the IT Center's revival. "I am happy and elated that we are seeing this day," she remarked, highlighting the importance of the center in fostering technological advancement within the university community.
