What really happened in Kumba: Mental Disorder Drives Man To Murder Own Mother
Excessive greed, the Bible says, kills. But this time it did not kill greedy 31-year-old Rixson Ebango who hails from Kupemuanenguba Division in the Southwest Region. Instead, ‘long throat’ for meat influenced Ebango to cut clean his mother’s head off her neck; not to add the meat to his scrubby stew but to quench his anger at being deprived of venison in a meal.
With a history of mental disorder,( Rexon had gone mentally upset for more than 7 years running) Ebango hacked his mother’s head on May 10 at their home on St. Francis Street in Fiango, leaving the inhabitants of Kumba dumbfounded. His reason to use a machete to end his mother’s life was simple; he was served a meal without beef!
And so 62-year-old Agnes Ebango was quickly transported to the world beyond with a quick swing of a cutlass.
On the fateful day, Ebango was reportedly served food and upon inspection of the dish, discovered only two slices of 'canda’ (cow skin), and meat was lacking.
After complaining, the young man was given more food. Still unsatisfied, Ebango dived for the pot from which he fished a piece of meat to his mother’s chagrin.
Reports said Ebango’s mother snapped that he would have to leave the house and because of that his possessions had been packed and ready to go.
Ebango said not a word, but moments later, he secured a cutlass and severed his mother’s head. A half an hour later, police arrested Ebango and detained him at the Kumba Central Police Station.
Ebango’s mother’s corpse was ferried for preservation as police opened investigations into the matter.
