Yaounde: A draft resettlement plan for ex-servicemen and women
The Ministry of Defense has organized a four day seminar to reflect on how retired uniformed officers can be beneficial to the Cameroon society. The think tank of the Ministry, in the company of experts, during the meeting, explored ways through which officers who generally leave active service within the Ministry can gain financially beneficial activities later.
Participants all agreed that it was possible through training and assistance before official retirement. Recommendations made during the four days of discussion have been assembled in a master plan for the socio-professional reintegration of ex-service men and war victims. This document shall be submitted to the hierarchy of the military for validation.
At the end of forum that held on the 30th October 2015, the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defense in charge of Ex-servicemen and War victims, Koumpa Issa expressed optimism, stating that it’s a new beginning for the retired men and women in uniform.
