Yaounde University 1 Lecturers Go On Strike

The lecturers of the University of Cameroon aka Yaounde University 1 have staged a general strike over the non payment of salaries and research bonuses. The strike action that started today with a majority of the lecturers boycotting classes was called by the University Lecturers Union. Cameroon Concord gathered that the controversial Minister of Higher Education Jacques Fame Ndongo has appealed to the lecturers to call off the strike and proceed with dialogue with higher education authorities. It is important to mention in this report that some pro CPDM lecturers did not yield to the strike action and went about their normal routines in the campus.
