Uncontrolled and repeated phenomenon of rain water overflowing into people’s homes in Buea has made this weekend the worse ever in Fako history. Buea residents have blamed it on negligence by the Buea council authorities. The council road grading project in Upper Muea village which was awarded to an incompetent contractor remains the foundation of the disastrous fallout following the heavy rains that swept off and destroyed several buildings on Saturday the 5th of March 2016. One of the victims, Carl Findi told this reporter that "water entered into my house, my TV set, computer, important documents, bed in fact all my belongings have been completely damaged”.
Torrential rains shattered all of Mola Mbella Njoh’s home leaving him with virtually nothing. As the inhabitants of Upper Muea and Malingo villages spent the whole Sunday morning picking up the pieces, a huge fire engulfed Miss Bright Street at Bomaka village and a 20 rooms building was razed to the ground. Cameroon Concord gathered many affected victims of the rainfall have revealed they will be filing a case against the Buea City Council.
The heavy downpour affected a filling station located at mile 16 Bolifamba, Buea. Correspondingly, more than twenty commercial vehicles were immovable after they reportedly purchased fuel from the said petrol station. As the rainy season is fast approaching, the population has been gripped by fear and tension for the known unknowns.

Sultan Ibrahim Mbombo Njoya who left the country since February 23, 2016 after his controversial speech during a CPDM rally in the West region appealing to President Biya to continue as head of state beyond 2018 was reportedly seen at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich. Local media reports say he was in Switzerland to collect money known in Cameroon as "per diem" in his capacity as member of the advisory committee of FIFA. The Sultan had a medical check up in France and later a brief stint in Zurich in Switzerland.
A lot of tongues have been waging ever since the Sultan and President Biya left the country almost simultaneously, which fueled the possibility that the President of the Republic had asked the king to come and explain the remarks he made during a CPDM meeting in Baffoussam. Sultan Njoya was quoted as saying "It is very urgent and imperative to consider convening an extraordinary congress of our party, to discuss the alarming situation that is on the horizon, that may seriously threaten the peace which is very dear to us which was acquired after a hard struggle".

A study by the authoritative German Non Governmental Organization, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Kamerun has revealed that 38,000 young Cameroonian leave the country every year because of lack of opportunities. The findings were made public on February 26, 2016 in the economic capital city of Douala during the inaugural session of a program to instill motivation, inspiration and training to develop a new class of entrepreneurs and youth leaders in Cameroon.
The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung experts also noted that 75% of young Cameroonian immigrants are between the ages of 20 and 35, 70% of whom have at least a Bachelor's degree. The study also indicated that 35% of entrepreneurs are young people between 30 and 35 years and that 47% of young people remain students throughout their juvenile period- a finding that betrays major failure on the part of the Biya regime to instill values, inspiration and motivation into young people.

Douala hit by water shortage. For some days now, taps have gone dry in many neighbourhoods, causing hygienic problems in toilets that depend on water for flushing. From Bonaberi through Bonamoussadi, to the administrative headquarter, Bonanjo, the cry is the same; "We are dying of thirst!"
The situation has led to a boom in the sale of bottled water by supermarkets and shops. Households, notwithstanding their financial situation, are obliged to buy a10-litre bottle of table water for 1,250 FCFA, which barely quenches the thirst of family members. While families that barely survive manage the 10 litres for two days, few wealthy families use the bottled water not only for drinking, but also for household chores like washing and cooking.
Meanwhile, the crisis has created a boom in the sale of water from treated wells.
