Anglophone Crises-Cameroon: UN finally wades in, calls for the release of detainees
The UN Secretary General Representative ( SRSG ) for central Africa (UNOCA) calls for the release of detainees.
The SRSG held a series of meetings in Yaoundé with some stakeholders and Government officials.
Top of his agenda was the meeting on Tuesday 11 April with the President of the Consortium and some lawyers for the defense at the Prison principale in Kondengui.
The SRSG was briefed by the President on the current situation in the SW and NW regions. He urged the SRSG to call on Government to release all the detainees and the reconnection of the internet in both regions.
The SRSG also met the minister of Justice, foreign affairs, SG at Presidency, British High Commissioner, Canadian High Commissioner, French and US Ambassadors.
The SRSG granted a press conference today Yaoundé calling for the release of the detainees and the reconnection of the internet.
The special UN representative addressed the media on the crisis in Cameroon in the Northwest & Southwest regions.
