As Anglophone Crisis Deepens: Gov’t instructs Army General to fight against war arms manufacturers in Bamenda

The Government of Cameroon through the National Gendarmerie boss, Jean Baptiste Bokam, has ordered General Agha Robinson to fight against the manufacture of war arms in the North West Regional capital Bamenda.

 Jean Baptiste Bokam, dishing out instructions from his boss, Paul Biya, was speaking in Bamenda, while installing General Agah into his function.

The Government of Cameroon has been restive, since the escalation of the Anglophone Crisis.

With the present violent state of affairs in the North West and South West Regions, Government is troubled that the irate Anglophones may lay hands on locally fabricated fire arms and use them to further resist Government.

The proliferation of locally made weapons in the North West Region has further compounded Government fears. 

In his installation address, Bokam said the war against terrorism and other forms of insecurity must be tackled vigorously. “As such, no locally manufacture arms should be tolerated in the Region.”

Bokam also exhorted the recently promoted military officers to fight cross-border crime and indiscipline within the ranks of the military.

Welcoming dignitaries at the installation ceremony, the Bamenda City Council Secretary General, Jude Waindim, thanked President Paul Biya for supporting the soldiers in the fight against terrorism.

He thanked the entire army corps, especially those who have paid the supreme price in the war front to protect their fatherland.

On his part, General Agha Robinson thanked the Bamenda population for their support to him and the military during this turbulent time and asserted that the population must collaborate with the military to accomplish the task assigned to them. 

“I am ready to cooperate with all peace loving people for us to fight cross border crimes.

General Agah is the only son from Menchum Division of the North West Region that has ever been appointed to a coveted position by the Biya regime for over 30 years of his stewardship.
