As Cameroon prepares to emerge in 2035: Fabric for the 2016 celebration of the International Day of the Women selected
The Fabric for the 2016 celebration of the International Day of the Woman has been selected. The selection was done by a search committee made up of representatives of the 10 regions of Cameroon. They all come from the Ministries of Women Empowerment and the Family, Arts and culture, Youth and Civic Education, Trade, and others from Civil societies the State owned textile - Cicam and some top ranking designers in the country. Out of 57 designs proposed, the committee has selected 5 designs based on three criteria: the colour, message and the inspiration.
The Director of women’s promotion at the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment says the messages, symbols and colours that illustrate the Cameroonian woman will be combined into a single fabric which will be used for the 2016 Women’s Day. The names of those who fall among the five selected fabrics will be published according to merits, and awards, will be accorded by the end of February 2016. The competition launched three months ago all over the national territory has finally come to an end with the selection of the five best fabrics.
