A man’s body was found in the Sanaga River at a small locality called Monatele /Tsang by fishermen earlier today.

Fishermen found the lifeless body at Tsang a locality located about 30 km from the Ebepda bridge, from where Bishop Jean Marie Benoît Balla went missing on May 31

The bishop's car was found on the bridge with a suicide note. He hadn’t been seen since that day.The Man of God reportedly left his home at 11p.m local time on Tuesday, according to his security agent who opened the gate for him. His car was later spotted at the Sanaga Bridge with a note which read " I'm water". The search began on Wednesday. An investigation is underway to shed more light on the rather mysterious death. Local media reports say the bishop had displayed some fatigue the day before. In the meantime, the people are kept spellbound, as they wait for the result of the investigation.

The information was confirmed by CRTV. Authorities have not officially identified the body as that of Bishop Balla, however,a source familiar with the matter told Cameroon Concord  Friday, “they’re 99 percent sure the body found is him.”

The remains have been airlifted by helicopter to a local  morgue according to  first information pending the official declaration by the Cameroonian authorities.

An autopsy will be conducted on the body to identify and determine the cause of death. According to initial findings,there is no trace of violence on the body.
