Cameroon: Canal 2 journalist expulsed under Philemon Yang's order
Elie Smith who used to work for Canal 2 English, is no longer part of the organ. He was dismissed on Thursday following orders from the Prime Minister's office. The President Director General of the Media organ Emmanuel Chatue, was the one who executed the orders which were passed to him.
The victim journalist's duties were finally put an end to, after he had been temporarily suspended. It all started to get so serious in August, when the PDG,was called by the Prime Minister's office to present himself before Philemon Yang and Laurent Esso in Yaounde. When he got there, they asked him to stop broadcasting one of his programs "tough talks". After he was given the instructions, Smith the journalist who was a part of the program, was equally asked to show up in Yaounde to beg for forgiveness, a demand he did not respect.{loadposition myposition}
On the 29 August 2017, a meeting was organised by the PDG of the TV station, which was aimed at taking a decision which would end the program "tough talks". During this meeting, Elie Smith was equally asked to present his apology to the Prime Minister as soon as possible. After some days without a favourable response from the journalist, he was sacked from Canal 2.{loadposition myposition2}
