Cameroon: Presidential Decree Reshapes Leadership at DGRE: Jean Pierre Ghoumo Assumes Director General Role.
On Tuesday, December 19, President Paul Biya announced the appointment of a new Director General at the helm of the Directorate General of External Research (DGRE).
Maxime Eko Eko is no longer the Director General of the Directorate of External Research (DGRE). According to a presidential decree dated December 19, President Paul Biya has appointed Jean Pierre Ghoumo as the new head of DGRE. The newly appointed official formerly served as a technical advisor to the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic. In his capacity, Jean Pierre Ghoumo will be assisted by Eloundou Mesmin Magloire in the role of deputy. It is worth noting that the now former head of DGRE, Maxime Eko Eko, is currently detained in the central prison of Kondengui. He is facing charges in connection with the investigation into the assassination of journalist Martinez Zogo. His dismissal comes just days after the unsuccessful release attempt of Maxime Eko Eko and Jean-Pierre Amougou Belinga from Kondengui prison.
