Escalating Racism in Luxembourg Province: Brutal Assault on Black Man Sparks Outcry
A disturbing incident unfolded in Bertrix, where an off-duty sergeant from the Bertrix police, visibly intoxicated, accosted a calmly seated black man at a local bar. The sergeant, in a drunken state, questioned the man's presence in a racially offensive manner, stating he had no business being there ("dirty negro, you have no business here"). As the victim attempted to document the encounter with his phone, the situation escalated.
Fortunately, a vigilant customer captured the unfolding events on camera. Witnessing the severity of the situation, she rushed to alert on-duty police officers monitoring festivities in Bertrix's central square. Upon their arrival, the officers intervened by placing their colleague, the intoxicated sergeant, in their vehicle and allowing him to leave without taking further action.

The black man, subjected to the assault, was subsequently transported by ambulance and remains in intensive care. Incidents of this nature are reportedly recurrent in Bertrix, particularly targeting foreigners, amid allegations of discrimination and complicity within the local administration.
The narrator of this account, personally affected by discrimination while running a café in Bertrix, highlights a pattern of harassment. Despite resisting unwarranted threats of closure, an unfortunate fire at the establishment left the narrator uncompensated for damages exceeding a million euros, leading to the bankruptcy of all business activities.
It is crucial to note that the assaulted individual is the narrator's brother. Legal actions will be pursued against the assailant, and the narrator vows not to let the matter rest. The narrator questions whether such incidents are becoming reminiscent of Chicago, expressing a determination to seek justice in the face of adversity.{loadmoduleid 378}
