Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

Gunfire and explosions were indeed heard this morning in several neighborhoods of Bamako, Mali, particularly around the Faladié gendarmerie school.

This incident occurs just hours before the start of a crucial trial linked to the purchase of a presidential plane and military equipment contracts. The Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (GSIM or JNIM), a jihadist alliance affiliated with Al-Qaeda, has claimed responsibility for the attack on the Bamako military airport as well as on this gendarmerie school.

GSIM claims to have caused significant human and material losses, including the destruction of aircraft during the attack. However, the Malian army has stated that it has regained control of the situation, urging the population to remain calm and continue their daily activities.

The events are a reminder of the persistent tension in the Sahel, where jihadist groups continue to carry out attacks. Despite this violence, the Malian people have shown great resilience and solidarity with their defense forces.
