Grief as two traditional rulers from Southern Cameroons perish in a car crash
HRH T. NJOKEM OF MBENGWI and HRH AKAM M. OF KAI village( a constituency in Momo Division) have been killed in a ghastly car accident along the Bamenda-Yaounde highway precisely at a small locality called Pitoa. The car they were traveling in collided in a head on collision with a bus.The Fons were in a convoy en route to Yaounde.They had been invited by the Chiefs from the South Region of La Republique.Scores of tributes have been pouring into the bereaved royal families as mourners pour into the Palaces.
Road is the main means of transportation in Cameroon, but the roads are some of the narrowest in the world and are poorly maintained. The Bamenda-Bafoussam road is now in a state of advanced depreciation leading to several accidents daily. Cameroon has some of Africa's worst roads. Less than 20 percent of the country’s roads are paved.
