Iran's Air Defenses Engage 'Suspicious Objects' Near Isfahan and Tabriz
Reports of explosions reverberated near the central Iranian city of Isfahan and Tabriz in the northwest early Friday, following engagements by Iran's air defense systems against what were deemed "suspicious objects."
According to officials, the incidents occurred without any harm to vital facilities in Isfahan province, particularly nuclear sites, ensuring their complete safety. Brigadier Siavash Mihandoust, a senior Army commander in Isfahan province, reassured the public, stating, "The sound was related to Isfahan's air defense systems firing at suspicious objects, and we have not had any damage or accident."
The prompt response of the air defense systems reflects Iran's commitment to safeguarding its territories and critical infrastructure against potential threats, maintaining vigilance to ensure the nation's security.
In the wake of the incidents, normal operations have resumed at Iranian airports, including Imam Khomeini International Airport and Mehrabad International Airport in Tehran, following temporary delays. The Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company confirmed the restoration of flight operations, underscoring the country's capability to swiftly address disruptions and maintain air travel efficiency.
Meanwhile, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) affirmed the integrity of Iran's nuclear sites, stating that there is no damage to these facilities. Director-General Rafael Mariano Grossi emphasized the importance of exercising extreme restraint in military conflicts, stressing that nuclear facilities should never become targets. The IAEA continues to closely monitor the situation, underscoring the imperative of preserving the safety and security of nuclear installations amid regional tensions.
As Iran navigates through geopolitical challenges, the nation remains committed to upholding its sovereignty and safeguarding its critical infrastructure, while also advocating for peace and stability in the region.
