Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

The president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), Rigobert Song, is facing uncertainty about his future as head coach of the national team, the Lions Indomptables. Following the team's poor performances in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Samuel Eto'o, the president of FECAFOOT, is reportedly considering dismissing Rigobert Song and his coaching staff.

According to reports from CFOOT Magazine, Samuel Eto'o expressed strong dissatisfaction with the team's performance after the draw against Guinea in their first match of AFCON 2023 in Côte d'Ivoire. In the locker room, Eto'o allegedly addressed Song and his staff with stern words, criticizing their inability to lead the team effectively.{loadmoduleid 377}

"Samuel Eto'o threatens to fire Rigobert Song and his staff. Very unhappy with the team's performance after the draw against Guinea, the federation president raised his voice in the Lions' locker room. According to well-informed sources, our editorial team learned that the former Pichichi did not mince words towards his staff: 'Aren't you ashamed to humiliate Cameroonians? I will fire you! If you don't do the job, I'll fire you... you are incapable of coaching the team!'" reported CFOOT Magazine.

The subsequent 3-1 defeat against Senegal on January 19, 2024, reportedly worsened the situation, leading to the likelihood of the current coaching staff facing imminent dismissal if they do not resign voluntarily. CFOOT Magazine concludes that the defeat has put the current Lions' staff on the path to imminent dismissal, should they not resign on their own accord sooner rather than later.{loadmoduleid 378}
