Breaking

Senegal’s President Macky Sall has declared Monday a public holiday to celebrate the national football team’s win at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The president, who was outside the country, cancelled the last leg of his trip to welcome back the football stars to Senegal on Monday. President Sall will award the team on Tuesday at the presidential palace, public broadcaster RTS television reported.

The Teranga Lions of Senegal corrected the wrongs of 2019 by winning the AFCON after reaching the finals twice.

Both sides played a very engaging 120 minutes game that began with an early penalty awarded to Senegal but Sadio Mane failed to transform it into a goal.

He went on to try multiple attempts at goal but the ever ready Egyptian goalkeeper tactfully stopped them.

Mo Salah and teammates also carried out various attempts at goal but not produce goals till the final whistle.

The pressure mounted on both sides till that last minute.

Sadio Mane also earned the trophy of man of the match for the competition while Cameroon’s team captain Vincent Aboubakar get the highest goal scorer with eight goals to his credit.
