Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

A seemingly routine visit by Prime Minister Dion Ngute to inaugurate the Maroua Technical High School in the Far North on December 13, 2023, has sparked an unexpected and intense conflict among traditional chiefs in the region. While the official purpose was the inauguration of an ordinary structure in Cameroon, the Prime Minister had more political calculations in mind. Dion Ngute, whose name is mentioned among potential successors to Paul Biya, has been actively building a network for political advantage, focusing on traditional chiefs and youth.

However, the situation did not unfold as planned. After his visit to the Far North, where his campaign team left a substantial gift for traditional chiefs, a problem arose over the distribution of the funds.

As a gift to the traditional chiefs, Dion Ngute provided a sum of 100 million CFA to be shared among 25 carefully selected traditional leaders. However, several days later, the money has yet to reach the hands of many intended recipients. Two traditional chiefs, responsible for compiling the list of the 25 beneficiaries of the Prime Minister's gesture, are specifically implicated in an alleged attempt to divert Chief Dion Ngute's funds.
