Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

In the heart of Cameroon's political landscape, a dark and intricate affair is unfolding, revealing a web of deceit that stretches to the highest echelons of power. The Martinez Zogo case, initially shrouded in mystery, has taken a disturbing turn implicating Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, the Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic.

The story began on January 22, 2023, with the discovery of Martinez Zogo's lifeless body on the outskirts of Yaoundé. As the prosecutor of Mfou launched an investigation, Ngoh Ngoh took matters into his own hands. Bypassing official channels, he orchestrated the arrest of Lieutenant Colonel Justin Danwe, citing arms trafficking as the reason.

The Secretary-General's direct involvement in the case raises eyebrows. Instead of collaborating with military security led by Colonel Joël Émile Bankoui, Ngoh Ngoh contacted the head of military intelligence, Maxime Eko Eko, creating a parallel investigation into arms trafficking in Maroua Salack. This move allowed him to manipulate the situation to his advantage.{loadmoduleid 378}

The plot thickened as Ngoh Ngoh, without clear evidence, continued to order arrests, creating an atmosphere of uncertainty and fear. On January 31, 2023, he summoned Maxime Eko Eko, leading to the military intelligence chief's arrest. The Secretary-General then cunningly removed the prosecutor of Mfou from the case, asserting that a presidential commission would handle the investigation, effectively putting himself in charge.

The question that looms large is, who provided Ngoh Ngoh with the names of the suspects? Despite the joint inquiry commission's arrests, no trace of documents leading to the initial arrests orchestrated by the Secretary-General was found. The commission, seemingly orchestrated to manipulate public opinion, released most detainees, leaving only those arrested by Ngoh Ngoh in custody.

The trail further unravels with the involvement of Desire Savom, an intimate of Ngoh Ngoh. Indicted for "complicity in torture," Savom had a video of Martinez Zogo's assassination on his phone. Phone records revealed multiple calls between Savom and Ngoh Ngoh during the critical period of Zogo's abduction and killing.

The investigation at the military tribunal points to an alarming revelation: Savom and Justin Danwe allegedly orchestrated the assassination for Ngoh Ngoh's benefit. The motive remains unclear, but the link between the Secretary-General and the perpetrators suggests a sinister connection.

As the truth slowly emerges, Cameroon is left grappling with the implications of a high-profile scandal involving its top political figures. The Martinez Zogo affair raises questions about the abuse of power, manipulation of investigations, and the fragility of justice in the face of political influence. The nation awaits answers, demanding accountability and transparency in the pursuit of justice.{loadmoduleid 377}
