Empowering Women: Overcoming Obstetric Fistula with Livelihood Support
In a heartwarming initiative, six women who have successfully overcome the challenges of obstetric fistula have been granted livelihood support, paving the way for them to rebuild their lives and regain dignity in their communities through economic empowerment.
The Socio Economic Empowerment of Females with Fistula (SEEFF) project, sponsored by the Hope and Healing International portfolio of the CBC Health Services, played a pivotal role in providing this transformative support. Four of the women, hailing from the NW Region, specifically around Bamenda, and one from Bafoussam in the West Region, were presented with a meaningful gift on December 30: 20 healthy chicks each.
The empowering event unfolded at the Baptist Center in Bamenda, where Ayenjika Yasmine, SEEFF project officer, orchestrated the distribution of the fowls. Two other women are slated to receive similar livelihood support in the days to come, extending the impact of this initiative to the SW and Adamawa regions, respectively.{loadmoduleid 377}
Rev. Ekwo Emmanuel, representing the CBC Health Services and coordinating for Hope and Healing International, handed over the fowls to the women. In his address, he encouraged the recipients to leverage these small beginnings, nurturing their poultry farms to sustainable levels. Expressing a commitment to monitoring their progress, he assured them of ongoing support.
The women, brimming with joy and gratitude, expressed their appreciation to God and specifically thanked Hope and Healing International for the unexpected and impactful gifts bestowed upon them through the SEEFF project.
As part of the holistic approach to empowerment, the women received valuable insights into poultry management from Idriss Muabecho, a knowledgeable poultry farmer who supplied the more than one-month-old healthy chicks. This educational component aims to equip the recipients with the necessary skills to ensure the success and sustainability of their poultry ventures.
The SEEFF project stands as a beacon of hope, not only addressing the physical challenges of obstetric fistula but also championing the economic empowerment and societal reintegration of these resilient women. Through initiatives like these, organizations like Hope and Healing International contribute significantly to building a more inclusive and supportive community.{loadmoduleid 378}
