Cameroon-American Songstress Lorine Chia Premieres "Black Girl Magic" to Celebrate Final Day of Black History Month
February 28, 2016, NEW YORK, NY -- To commemorate the final day of Black History Month, Lorine Chia has partnered with Afropunk to premiere her unapologetic new anthem "Black Girl Magic". The Cameroon-born indie-soul songstress penned the powerful tribute as a celebration of her African heritage, as well as an empowering affirmation of black women worldwide. Featuring guest vocals from newcomer Billie Mitchell and production by longtime collaborator Givtyd, the single is now available for streaming: https://soundcloud.com/lorine-chia/black-girl-magic-ft-billie-mitchell-prod-givyd
With the release of her triumphant debut mixtape 'LORINE' immediately followed by her pitch-perfect 'NAKED TRUTHS' sophomore LP, Lorine Chia quickly established herself as a favorite among industry insiders and indie music bloggers, garnering the highest praises from the Wall Street Journal, Pitchfork, Billboard, and Vibe. Incorporating a striking fusion of alternative, acid jazz, and futuristic R&B/soul music, her work was hailed as both delightfully nostalgic and refreshingly innovative. After receiving placement on Def Jam recording artist Jeezy's 2015 single "Sweet Life" with Janelle Monae, Chia performed the song alongside the rapper on CBS' The Late Late Show with James Corden. Since then, she has released 'ONOMATOPOEIC', 'INTRODUCTION TO SWEET NOISE', and most recently, 'WHEN MORNING COMES'. Touting praises from leading tastemakers including Rolling Stone, Complex, FADER, and Rookie Magazine, Chia has collaborated with The Game, Wiz Khalifa, Jim Jones, The Cool Kids, Jamila Woods, Chance the Rapper, Lili K, and many more.
