Popular musician makes mockery of Bafia bishop's mysterious death
The reaction of a popular Cameroonian musician to the death of Bishop Jean Marie Balla is making headlines across the country, especially on social media. Maahlox lashed out at a fan who used his timeline to mourn the bishop.
Maahlox began by insulting the lady who had posted her distress on his timeline. He further wondered if the bishop had more problems than everyone else to "commit suicide".
"He claimed to be a Man of God yet he was the first to jump into the lake[...]", he said. "Was he more troubled than those who go without food?", he questioned.
This outing on Facebook attracted diverse reactions from Cameroonians. Some people reminded the music star that he was losing a fan by insulting the lady. Maahlox had ordered the young woman to go and cry at the Sanaga River and not on his timeline. "If you are his girlfriend go and wail somewhere else," he said bitterly.
On Friday it was rumoured that Maahlox had been called up for interrogation. It is yet to be confirmed.
Some people are wondering what would become of Maahlox if it turned out that the bishop did not actually commit suicide as he claimed.
But Maahlox stands his ground, arguing that fame does not make him more human than everyone else.
The bishop was fished out of the river on Friday after he went missing on Tuesday night. He reportedly left his home at 11 p.m local on Tuesday. His car was later found with a note which read " i'm in water" at the Sanaga bridge, some kilometers away from his home.
In spite of the recovery of his corpse, the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear. Investigation is underway.
