Boko Haram kills 30 more in Cameroon
At least 30 people have been killed in a fresh attack by Nigeria’s Boko Haram militants in neighboring Cameroon. The raid happened in Mbaljuel village in northern Cameroon, just a few kilometers from the country’s border with Nigeria on Friday night, Cameroonian newspaper L'Oeil du Sahel said on Saturday. The regional governor, Mijiyawa Bakary, confirmed the assault by the militants and noted that the victims were civilians. "We do not yet have all the facts, but our divisional officers and security officials are filling us in," Bakary said.
The terrorists also conducted an attack on the Waza-Mora highway, killing one Cameroonian soldier. "A corporal was killed and three soldiers were wounded," a Cameroonian soldier said, asking not to be named. The violence came almost a week after the Cameroonian army dismantled a training camp belonging to Boko Haram in the northern district of Mayo-Danay. Boko Haram Takfiris have expanded their operations in Cameroon in recent months, launching cross-border attacks.
