Boko Haram strikes Cameroon again, kills 5
Five people were killed on Monday following an attack attributed to Boko Haram in the villages of Kidji and Talakachi, Cameroon Concord has learned from a leading security source serving with our secret service in the Far North region. The heavily armed militants arrived aboard motorcycles and attacked the two villages killing five persons.
Some of the inhabitants had abandoned their homes and the suspected Boko Haram fighters took away cattle herds and burned buildings. Cameroon government sources confirmed at the time of filing this report that six Islamist militants were arrested after the army launched an offensive against the suspected terrorists.
Cameroon is facing an upsurge in attacks attributed to the Nigerian sect. As a result of these attacks, more than 43 700 Nigerians have fled their country to take refuge in Minawao in Cameroon.
