Bamenda: North West Governor host workshop to fight uncivil behaviours perpetrated by religious organizations

A one day workshop organized by the Regional Committee for Civic Education and National Integration, in collaboration with the Full Gospel Mission, involving all the religious organizational setup of the North West region, under the patronage of NW Governor, Adolphe Lele L’afrique, took place at the Bamenda Congress hall on Tuesday, October 11, 2016.

The workshop was aimed at putting sanity in ways of worships and other ethical behaviours in the region.
The workshop that held under the theme ‘fighting uncivil behaviours perpetrated by religious organizations’, brought together the cross section of denominational leaders, the administration and traditional leaders.

The reason for the Bamenda meeting according to Governor Adolphe Lele L’afrique follows an address to the youths by the head of state, President Paul Biya on the 10th of February 2012 whereby he decried the moral, ethical and civic responsibility decline within the communities and especially amongst the youths.

He went ahead to say that it was based on the directives that the international colloquium on civic education and national integration was organized in Yaoundé in July 2013. He revealed that in executing one of the recommendations of the Yaoundé colloquium, put in the region in August, 2013, the regional committee members of the civic education and national integration regrouping the administration, traditional rulers, political and religious authorities and civil society organizations, meet once in a while to reflect on some civic practices within the region and look for means to combat them.

Meanwhile, the secretary General at the Bamenda city council, Jude Waindem, who represented the Bamenda government delegate, told the governor that, the regulation of worship of churches in the North West region is not only timely but overdue. He reminded the governor that, the noise being caused by the revival churches here and there in nearly all the houses of any street should be a cause for concern by the administration.
