Bishop Andrew Nkea tells African Catholics to stand up for the truth

By Soter Tarh Agbaw-Ebai
His Lordship Bishop Andrew Nkea of the Diocese of Mamfe has told African Roman Catholic Christians in the Federal Republic of Germany to stand up for the truth.
In his homily delivered at the Saint Ludgerus Basilica in Stadt Essen in the NorthRhein Westphalia province of Germany during the second edition of the African Chaplaincy, the Cameroonian Bishop noted that Christians should not be afraid to call themselves Christians, to belong to the Church and to speak of the Gospel. The man of God illustrating from the feast of Saints Peter and Paul revealed that in the tradition of the Church, the names Peter and Paul are always seen together. This is visibly expressed in the names given to twins and Catholic institutions. Said the Bishop "Saints Peter and Paul had different backgrounds, yet they shared many common features together. Irrespective of these differences, they shared in common single mindedness and total commitment to their love for Christ and His Church".
Bishop Andrew Nkea whose recent pastoral visit to the USA ended him a pet name as "the Preaching Bishop" sounded a note of caution to the African Catholic family in Germany that people prefer to just get along than have to challenge false views or a wrong way of living. The Bishop gave a strong sign that that the Church in its efforts of journeying together in faith wants to vigorously challenge this trend. The visiting Cameroonian Bishop held workshops on Children Catechism, Youth Forum, Education of African Children in the Faith and Marriage and Family.
The African Chaplaincy in Germany comprises of five Roman Catholic Dioceses of Essen, Aachen, Cologne, Bonn and Munster.
