Emmanuel TV Faces Second YouTube Suspension Amidst Allegations of Abuse and Hate Speech
January 31, 2024 - In a recent expose, openDemocracy has reported disturbing content on Emmanuel TV, including footage of individuals with mental health issues being kept in chains, instances of medical misinformation, and smear campaigns against women who spoke out about sexual abuse by TB Joshua.

This marks the second suspension of Emmanuel TV's YouTube channel in three years, following prior breaches of the platform's community guidelines.
Collaborating with the BBC, openDemocracy conducted an in-depth investigation into Emmanuel TV's online presence, uncovering at least 50 videos deemed "abusive" on YouTube. The team promptly reported these videos to YouTube, leading to the suspension of the account on January 29.
In response to the inquiry, a spokesperson for the Google-owned video-sharing platform stated that Emmanuel TV had been "terminated for violating... hate speech policies." The suspension highlights growing concerns about the platform's content, raising questions about the responsibility of online platforms in monitoring and regulating potentially harmful material.
The Emmanuel TV controversy underscores the ongoing challenges faced by social media platforms in balancing free expression with the need to curb the spread of harmful content. As discussions on content moderation continue, the incident adds to the broader conversation surrounding accountability and ethical responsibility in the digital age.
