The Lions of Cameroon recorded a one nil victory in Banjul, capital of Gambia, against the local national team. The match was the second day of the qualification series for the Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Gabon in 2017. The Scorpions of  Gambia and the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon played a balanced game with both sides creating very few chances. The only goal of the game came in the 65th minute from striker Vincent Aboubakar.

Head coach, Volker Finke replaced Njie Clinton and Aurélien Chedjou with Joel Matip and Sallir Edgar. Cameroon currently leads the group with 6 points followed by Mauritania with 3 points. The Lions will be meeting a South African side that has gotten just a point ever since the campaign started.
