Cameroon's Williams Sisters in the US
Linda and Manuella Eloudou are arguably Cameroon's own Williams sisters. The young lawn tennis stars have reportedly left the country earlier this week for test aimed at joining a tennis academy in the USA. Cameroon Tribune observed that in Cameroon, they are called the "Eloundou twins". Aged 13 years, the two sisters developed the passion for lawn tennis since 2010 and have been successful in both the singles and doubles.
The twins have turned down request from both Nigeria and Togo to represent them at the African championships stating that their love for Cameroon is unwavering. Cameroon Concord understands that in the US, they began a test at the Junior Tennis Champions Center in Washington on 3 July which will run till the 2 of August. If successful, Linda and Manuella will benefit from a scholarship donated by the Sports and Management Department of the Washington based tennis Academy. Last January, the Cameroonians took part in three international youth tournaments in Florida in the United States and have caught the eyes of promoters of major tennis academies, including that of Washington.
