Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

According to reports in Belgium highlighted by Sky Sports on their Transfer Centre page (13:51, June 19), Crystal Palace are eyeing a move for free agent defender Eyong Enoh as his deal at Standard Liege is about to expire.

The report claims that Palace are seeking further defensive reinforcements this summer and have identified the Cameroon international as a viable free agent option.

Alan Pardew’s men experienced an inconsistent campaign last season as they flirted with relegation in the latter stages following an abysmal run of form in the Premier League.

Palace will be wary that a failure to strengthen the squad this summer could prompt another struggle next season, and aside from a new goal scorer a priority for Pardew is at the back.

A recent report in the Mirror claimed that new Everton boss Ronald Koeman is also eyeing the defender, and his agent Shallon Nkeshimana confirmed the Toffees’ interest to Het Laatste Nieuws.

“There is interest from different Premier League clubs, not just Everton. Clubs from China and Dubai would also like to attract. So there are several possible options, nothing is decided yet. Eyong does not currently want to close any doors at this time,” he explained.

The other Premier League club in question appears to be Palace if the latest reports in Belgium (picked up by Sky Sports on their Transfer Centre page, 13:51, June 19) are to be believed, although there could be more monitoring his situation.

The 30-year-old has top-level experience having enjoyed a spell at Ajax, while in 2013 he a had a brief short-term stint in England with Fulham under then boss Martin Jol who he joined on loan.
