Coton Sport of Garoua versus Canon of Yaounde: The Owona mediocrity at its best
A football encounter opposing Coton Sport of Garoua and the sick man of Cameroon League 1, Canon of Yaounde has exposed the Joseph Owona nasty hands and its atrocious activities aimed at destroying Cameroon football. The match that took place on Thursday, July 30, 2015 was the National League 1's 27 playing day. Canon had traveled to Garoua battling relegation and Cameroon Concord understands all had been arranged for Canon of Yaounde to pick up the three points by fraud. The referee, Itong Christian and the match commissioner after a poor handling of the first half of the match which saw both sides at 0:0, blatantly refused to continue with the second half of the beautiful game claiming crowd disturbances and insecurity.
A commission put in place by the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) interim president Prof. Joseph Owona and chaired by his son Prof. Eric Mathias Owona Nguini ruled on Monday, August 3, 2015 that Coton Sport was guilty of crowd violence and loses the match to Canon of Yaounde. The decision Cameroon Concord gathered was based on Article 97 of the Disciplinary Code of FECAFOOT in accordance with Article 17- 1(a) and Article 20(a) of the Annex of the Disciplinary Code. At a time when clubs can barely survive financially and when Cameroon football is at its greatest low noted a Coton Sport official, "the members of the FECAFOOT normalization committee headed by Joseph Owona are contributing immensely towards the destruction of Cameroon football."
