Emergence 2035: From striking soldiers to striking basketball team,Lionesses refused to leave Hotel Mont Febe
The Lionesses of Cameroon, vice champions of Africa in the just ended Africa Female Basket tournament hosted in Yaounde have refused to leave Hotel Mont Febe over unpaid bonuses. One of the players, Valerie Avebe, who spoke to local and international media on Friday the 9th, observed that a hotel manager came to them saying he has been told to order all the players to leave the hotel.
Surprised by the decision, the 10 players still present at the Hotel Mont-Febe after the departures of Ramses Lonlack and Miesha Blackshear for the USA, replied that they will quit only after receiving the 5 million francs CFA promised them by the Minister of Sports-who by some happenstance was sacked in the last cabinet shakeup.
The scene created at the Hotel Mont Febe has been shameful and disgusting. Amina Djonkou who appeared to be the spokesperson for the striking basketball players said, the group was even willing to accept a lower amount of money. The President of the Cameroon Basketball Federation, FECABasket has ever since the end of the competition not been seen. Samuel Duku remained unreachable even by phone.
