Enfin!! Keshi gets a sack
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) ended last Saturday the contract of Stephen Keshi as coach of the Super Eagles. The national team will be temporarily led by assistant coach Salisu Yusuf and technical staff until further notice. The NFF noted that the decision was made after a review of the reports of the Disciplinary Committee of the NFF and the technical staff. According to the NFF, various reports indicate that Keshi lacked the commitment which he agreed with the Federation.
From the above, the Federation came to the conclusion that "in accordance with Article 4.3 of the employment agreement between Mr. Stephen Keshi and NFF, the Nigerian Football Federation decided to withdraw the employment contract of Mr. Stephen Keshi with the Federation with immediate effect. " NFF through the voice of its Senior Vice President, Mr. Seyi Akinwunmi, said that the dismissal is without prejudice and the decision was taken in the best interest of Nigerian football.
Stephen Keshi, the former coach of Mali and Togo, took over the Super Eagles of Nigeria in 2011 and won brilliantly the CAN 2013. History will remember him as the first local coach that took Nigeria to a world cup finals in 2014 hosted in Brazil. Stephen Keshi recently applied for the post of head coach of the Elephants of Côte d'Ivoire.
