Tottenham release Emmanuel Adebayor

Emmanuel Adebayor is now a free agent. Tottenham confirmed they have released the Togo international after coming to an agreement over the termination of his contract. A club statement read: "We can confirm that we've reached a mutual agreement with Adebayor which will see him released from his contract with the club. 

"We wish Emmanuel well for the future." The former Arsenal forward was close to leaving in the summer but pulled out of a deal to join Aston Villa after complaining he wanted to stay in London.
