Forba Rose, one of three women who died in a stampede at the Bépanda Omnisport Stadium during a two-day gospel crusade by Nigerian preacher, Suleman Johnson, has been identified and buried. Close family members identified her corpse about three weeks after the crusade event. The dead body was recently transferred from the Deido Hospital Mortuary to Baba II in the Santa Sub-Division (North West) where it has been laid to rest.

It is worthy to remember that the over 50 years old woman died having been trampled upon in the stampede at the crusade ground following a robbery attack on attendees. 32 old Geraldine, who also died on-the-spot, was conveyed to the Laquintinie Hospital Mortuary while the third victim was rushed to the Mbingo Baptist Hospital Annex in Douala. She died a few hours later. Her corpse was then transferred to the Laquintinie Hospital Mortuary. The robbers were said to have attacked participants in the night breaking October 21, just after preaching was over and the preacher and his collaborators had left the crusade ground.

The 38th UNESCO Summit in Paris ended on the 18th of November 2015 with an active participation from Cameroon representatives including the Head of State and First Lady Chantal Biya. In Paris, President Paul Biya called for a united front against international terrorism while First Lady Chantal Biya in her capacity as UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador for Education and Social Inclusion, took part in a number of deliberations during the summit.

Two Cameroonians were elected into senior positions within the international organisation. Professor Ebenezer Njoh Mouelle emerged as member of the Executive Council of UNESCO for a four-year term and Basic Education Minister, Youssouf Hadidja Alim was raised to the position of Chairperson of the Social and Human Sciences (SHS) Commission of UNESCO.  

A number of Cameroonians have occupied key positions within UNESCO before these appointments. They included Aurelien Eteki Mboumoua, Jean Felix Loung, Adamou Ndam Njoya, Joseph Mboui and Professor Ebenezer Njoh Mouelle reportedly making a come back have been on the fore front of UNESCO occupying strategic positions. The delegation from Cameroon headed by the President comprised of the Minister of External Relations, Lejeune Mbella Mbella, the Minister of Basic Education, Youssouf Hadidja Alim and the Minister of Arts and Culture, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi.

Six passengers lost their lives while five others were seriously wounded yesterday, November 19, 2015, when a vehicle belonging to the Guarantee Express Bus Company ran into a moving timber truck. According to the Commander of the Bafia Gendarmerie Road Safety Unit, ‘Adjudant chef-major’ Ntobuku Fidelis, the accident happened at 1 am in Kon Yambetta village, 36 km from Bafia in the Centre Region.

The bus, with registration number CE 528 FW, which was heading for Bamenda from Yaounde, hit the moving truck with registration number OU 948 AG; that was also going in the same direction. The six victims died on the spot while the wounded were rushed to Bafia Hospital.

Ntobuku Fidelis said among the dead was a woman who did not have any identification papers on her. Meanwhile, the people in the timber lorry suffered no injuries. The Commander of the Bafia Gendarmerie Road Safety Unit suggested that fatigue on the part of the driver might have been responsible for the accident. He said there are no potholes at the scene that could have caused the bus to skip into the back of the moving lorry.
