The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States has offered a $1000 reward for information that will lead to the arrest of a Nigerian national suspected of defrauding victims of over $5 million through an email scam.
32-year-old Kelechi Declan James, suspected to be in New York City, is alleged to have run a business e-mail compromise scheme that resulted in victims losing more than $5 million.
“As part of scheme, James and his co-conspirators defrauded victims across the U.S. by tricking them into wiring money to bank accounts the victims believed were owned by family members, friends, or business associates,” the FBI said in a statement last week.
They explained that the scheme was run in two ways: “by overtaking an e-mail account of an individual trusted by the victim and then requesting money be wired to a bank account; or by developing a relationship of trust with victim like an Internet romance and then asking the victim to wire money.”

Bat hunting is the new occupation that keeps the Bamenda boys busy during this tempting period. The abakwa boys now spend time at up station shooting down bats for sale with their locally fabricated catapults.
They recount, ever since they abandoned school, nature has provided them with new ways of passing their time; hunting bats they say has been great as they are sometimes able to shoot as many as 50 per day.
"I shoot averagely 50 bats per day if I stay here for the whole day and I can shoot even more if I start early" says a young bat hunter.
Bats have also been a new source of income for the boys as the hundreds of people visiting or leaving Bamenda stop to buy one or two of the delicacy.
“Averagely we make between 10,000frs to 15,000frs CFA each from bat hunting every day” confirms a hunter.
"It is been long since I ate this. I cannot go back to Douala without getting some for my children. My children have never seen this and will be very happy when I show them" says a traveller.
Although the flying animals are plentiful now, hunters say they will soon disappear as the rains will increase. Nevertheless the hunters have vowed to wait until their prey returns again next season.
"When this batch will disappear, we will take appointment with them again next year, same time" says an overzealous young hunter.
Reports say, council officials may soon consider levying taxes on these bat hunters in view of the amounts of money they make on a daily basis.

A Cameroonian citizen believed to be linked to a transnational counterfeit hard currency ring has been arrested alongside an accomplice and arraigned in a court in Nairobi -Kenya.Kenyan authorities say, the Cameroonian citizen by name Ousman Bako and a certain Mohammed Sani alias Mustafa from Niger, had been fleecing people in and outside Kenya of "colossal sums of money".

Boinnet said the arrest followed the receipt of an intelligence report indicating several people had been conned of more than Sh40 million in exchange of foreign currency shipped from Syria. He said CID officers carried out operations that led to the recovery of $693 million (Sh71 billion) and 369 million Euros (Sh41 billion).
"Money-printing machines, money cutters, scanners, five safes, two computers, chemicals, masks and foil paper were also found," he said.
Boinnet said the government will not let foreigners engage in criminal activities by taking advantage of Kenyans' hospitality.

Nigerians and travelers to and from the country are getting ready for major problems as the country's main airport shuts down Tuesday.
Authorities expect Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja to be closed for at least six weeks to fix a runway pockmarked with cracks and holes.
Officials say the work cannot be done unless the entire facility is closed.
Travelers flying into or out of the country will have to use the much smaller domestic airport in Kaduna - a three-hour drive from the capital along a highway infamous for bandits and kidnappers.
The government has promised to station police and soldiers along the road, but several international airlines have already said they will not fly into Kaduna.
It is not just travelers who are facing a major inconvenience. Hundreds of airport workers, such as baggage handlers and cab drivers, and small businesspeople who sell food and other services to passengers are facing more than a month without any income.
Travelers in Nigeria have long complained about the poor services, endless lines and shabby conditions at the Abuja airport.
