Cameroon: Issa Hayatou slowly but surely leaving CAF
The Cameroonian Issa Hayatou, head of the Confederation of African Football (Caf), has announced that he is dropping some of his prerogatives as head of the African football family. Issa Hayayou has headed CAF for the last 28 years. Hayatou made public the decision via a CAF press release published last Monday.
President Hayatou in agreement with the Executive Committee of CAF wants to concentrate on the FIFA president role during the upcoming electoral process.The final stage began on January 26 following the publication of the final list of candidates by FIFA that included Prince Ali and Sheikh Salman, the Swiss Gianni Infantino, UEFA No 2, the South African Tokyo Sexwale and French Jérôme Champagne.
