Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

Emilio Nsue Lopez, the top scorer of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, has stirred up a storm in the Equatorial Guinean football world during an Instagram live session. He has leveled a series of serious accusations against the Equatorial Guinean Football Federation, revealing:

Misappropriation of funds: Nsue alleges that the federation misappropriated over a million euros won during the 2022 AFCON in Cameroon, with no trace of this money being accounted for.

Unpaid debt: He disclosed that the federation had accrued debts to the Malabo hotel, the gathering place of the national team, and had asked players to vacate the premises due to unpaid bills.

Lack of preparation: Prior to a crucial match against Nigeria during the 2024 AFCON, players didn't even have proper gear ready, highlighting a disastrous management of sports equipment.

Financial responsibility of players: National team equipment allegedly is paid for by the players themselves, rather than by the federation, raising questions about the financial transparency of the organization.

Lack of leadership involvement: Nsue strongly criticizes the federation president, stating that he shirks his responsibilities by claiming he is not the sports minister, yet is always present to collect money from the federation.

Qualification of leaders: He labeled the federation leaders as illiterate, questioning their competence to manage national football affairs.

Faced with these damning revelations, Nsue declared that he would not set foot in the national team again until the current leaders are replaced.

These accusations made by one of the major figures in Equatorial Guinean football raise serious concerns about governance and integrity in the national sport. Authorities and international football bodies may be called upon to investigate these allegations and take appropriate measures to ensure transparent and responsible management of football in Equatorial Guinea.
