Female cabinet ministers and parliamentarians have added their “widow’s mite” to the war effort against Boko Haram by donating cash worth FCFA 10.8 million for Defence Forces, refugees and displaced population in the Far North, North, Adamaoua and East Regions. Regrouped under the Cameroonian branch of the Network of African Female Parliamentarians and Ministers (REFAMP) and led by their president and Women’s Empowerment Minister, Prof. Marie Thérèse Abena Ondoa, they handed over the cash amount on December 11, 2015 to the Chairman of the Inter-ministerial Adhoc Committee in charge of managing donations to Defence Forces and affected population, René Emmanuel Sadi. Minister Abena Ondoa’s delegation equally disclosed the donation in-kind was still being collected and will be handed over soon.
René Emmanuel Sadi who is also Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, received the stacks of banknotes with words of gratitude for the gesture which to him was a show of solidarity with the beneficiaries and a sign of support to President Paul Biya’s efforts to eliminate the threat of terrorism especially from the Boko Haram sect. “This donation enables us to meet the FCFA 2 billion watermark already collected for the purpose,” René Emmanuel Sadi said, urging the ladies to continue in the same vein. REFAMP was created in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, in 1995. A branch was put in place in Cameroon in June 1998 with the aim of pursuing advocacy, ensuring leadership on issues concerning women’s empowerment and protection of their rights.

The Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ART) of Cameroon announced the launch, from 21 December 2015, of a "repressive control" of the identification of mobile telephone subscribers. The information was revealed during a meeting organised on 10 December 2015 in the economic capital by the telecoms authority.
At the end of this control, all unidentified SIM card will be deactivated. According to Jean-Marie Noah, ART representative for the Littoral, West, North-West and South-West, in addition to being in line with the law in force, the aim of this operation is mainly to track down those who use cellphones as "a weapon to run scams and commit usurpations of titles", make "death threats" and commit "terrorist acts".
Moreover, under the recent government texts banning the sale of SIM cards on the streets, the telecoms authority announced that sellers not registered by operators will have the SIM cards in their possession seized

Disaster was avoided in the Montée Jouvence neighbourhood of Yaounde on Saturday, December 12, 2015, after an electricity pole belonging to Energy of Cameroon, Eneo, broke off from the ground without any wind blowing. However, no one was electrocuted as the detached high-tension pole hanged precariously over the street, after its cables had snapped and the loose ends lying on the ground.
As a result, power went off from the Montée Jouvence Junction to the Total Mendong Filling Station stretch of the street. It was only restored at 9.30 pm, about four hours on, after Eneo employees worked tirelessly to replace the broken pole and snapped cables. The incident happened at 5.10 pm in front of a hair salon between Diplomatic Hall and Duchess Bar. Hyacinth Kongso, a barber whose shop is located a few metres from where the pole broke off - apparently after being eaten by weevils - he was alerted by a loud cracking sound and the shouts of people fleeing in all directions. He and his customers then dashed out of his shop.
On-coming motorists were forced to turn back. However, in spite of the risks posed by the cut cables and hanging power pole, other motorists continued to drive over the loose power lines. Kongso said the broken pole was replaced about a year ago. He recalled another incident a few years back when high-tension cables snapped in the same area in the midst of heavy rains, obliging traffic to stop.
Shenwe Ghogomu, a customer in the hair salon in front of which the pole broke, said the owner, Solange Njong, noticed it crumbling and raised alarm for the 13 people inside to flee. She said it was while they were preparing to return to the salon after some minutes that the hanging pole descended even lower, forcing them to retreat.

Images of Prof. Alain Fogue broadcasted on Sunday, December 13, 2015 by Canal television network has once again revived the debate on human rights violation in the country. During a panel discussion, the academic made public his case against the ruling CPDM regime by placing his leg on the table for the other panelists to see evidence of Cameroon police brutality. The debate was very lively and was on violence against supporters of Maurice Kamto during a protest march infront of the National Assembly.
Last week, the national president of the MRC (Movement for the Rebirth of Cameroon), met with the press after the the Prof Alain Fogue incident. Maurice Kamto reportedly reaffirmed his commitment to build a prosperous nation for tomorrow, based on justice and respect for the rule of law and the rules of democracy.
