Taxi owners and drivers in Yaounde have till 31st July 2016 to conform to required standards or have their taxis stopped from circulating. This was major decision at a social dialogue exchange between the Centre Regional Delegate for Transport and the Trade Union of Taxi Owners.
This call for conformity is to make taxis more comfortable and attractive especially as Cameroon prepares to host the 2016 Female African Cup of Nations. According to statistics from the Centre Delegation for Transport, 90 per cent of taxis operate under poor hygienic conditions.
Some have plastics in the place of windows and windscreens, others are not completely painted yellow and some of the drivers are neither neat nor well dressed. The Transport Regional Delegate emphasised that by 31st July 2016, all taxis must be yellow in colour, carry an immatriculation number and have a radio post.

The National School of Magistracy and Administration, ENAM, on May 26, 2016, in Yaounde, launched its cultural week on the theme, “ENAM at the service of modern administration.” The event, running till May 28, 2016, is organised by the ENAM Students Sports and Cultural Association, ASCENDAM.
Opening the activities, the Director General of ENAM, Linus Toussaint Mendjana, cited President Paul Biya as noting in the past that in spite of several efforts, the Civil Service continues to be blamed for its lapses. The Head of State therefore directed that no efforts be spared in improving service delivery in the Civil Service. As trainer of high-level functionaries, Linus Toussaint Mendjana said his school was also concerned by the statements of the Head of State. He described the cultural week as an avenue for students to express their sports, intellectual and cultural talents.
The President of ASCENAM, Mohamadou El Hadj Harouna, explained that the choice of the theme was informed by ongoing Public Service reforms. He said the week enables ENAM to demystify itself by throwing its doors wide open to the public in order to correct the negative perception some people have of the school. El Hadj Harouna added that ENAM is doing everything to keep abreast with the changes in the country by professionalising its courses.
Activities during the event include lectures, a cross country race, gala and cultural entertainment, the organisation of exhibitions with the participation of ENAM departments, higher institutions, ministries and State agencies. A mini-football tournament has also been organised with other higher institutes in the capital.

Dirty South the above neglected neighborhood is one of the quarters in Buea harboring a huge chunk of student population alongside the numerous private houses.

ENSET Support Staff Go On Rampage Over 30 support staff of the Higher Technical Teachers Training Institute known in its French acronym, ENSET, Tuesday 24 May, 2016 staged a protest demonstration on the Campus of the University of Douala, denouncing 10 years of unpaid leave allowance, 26 months of unpaid Semester examinations supervision among others. Activities were paralyzed on Campus as the support staff abandoned their working tools and sat in an open air just at the entrance of the school.
According to a member of the Staff Delegates group, Mbome Raymond, they will only resume duties when their plight has been given a listening ear. The Rector, Professor Francois Javier in a crisis meeting blamed the nonpayment of such dues to slow administrative procedures.
The Rector assured them that their problems will be given concrete solutions after he must have met with members of the finance committee. The support staff promised to resume work but insisted that the strike will have to continue if nothing is being done in the nearest future.

Forjindam who has been in prison in Douala since 2008 has been decorated with one of the highest state medals, reported the Eden Newspaper and Guardian Post. Recall that Forjindam was the former General Manager of the Cameroon Shipyard and Industrial Engineering. He was jailed on July 20, 2012, by the Littoral Court of Appeal with a life sentence for embezzling 978 million FCFA.
The supreme court on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 indefinitely adjourned the appeal brought forth by a college of Forjindam lawyers. On 20th May, 2016, a jailed former state director was then decorated with a medal by state authorities in Bamenda.
Why should a jailed officer be decorated? How do the awards of medals work? Does it not make a mockery of the process? Does it not make nonsense the case brought against Forjindam? What is the government trying to do here? Most Cameroonians believe Forjindam is a victim of Francophone state mafia because he personally developed Chantal Naval. Is someone trying to dare Biya here?
