The 2016 General Baccalaureate results have been released and success rate stands at 52.72% against 57.14% for the year 2015. These figures indicate a real decline of success. According to the classification of regions, four regions recorded a higher percentage than the national pass rate. The South West region ranks first with a success rate of 60% followed by the Littoral region which remains in second place with a success rate of 58.09% followed in turn by the Central region in third place with a success rate of 57.41% . The North West Region on the contrary dropped to the fourth position with a percentage of 52.86% meanwhile the Far North is last position with 40%.
According to the Director of the Office of Baccalaureate, Zechariah Mbatsogo, this decline is due to an increase in the number of candidates. 104,692candidates registered this year, against 90,759 in 2015. The statistical the commercial baccalaureate recorded an increased from 55.53% in 2015 to 49.08% in 2016.

The funeral programme for Cameroonian music Icon Anne Marie Nzié, has been released.Burial is scheduled for Saturday, July 23,2016 at her place of Birth, Bibia in the Centre region of Cameroon.
Thursday, 21 July, 2016: Removal of her remains from the mortuary of the central hospital in Yaounde at 3 pm, followed by a procession to the Yaounde Sports Centre where a cultural evening in her honour has been scheduled to start at 7 pm .
Friday, July 22, 2016: Departure of funeral convoy to Bibia by Lolodorf,the birth village of the late singer, after a brief stopover at the residence of the deceased in the neighbourhood Cité verte-Yaounde. Upon arrival at her final destination, the local community church will proceed with an all night long wake keeping for in memory for mama Anne.
Saturday, July 23 2016: Burial at 1 pm, after official ceremonies chaired by Cameroon's Minister of Culture, Narcisse MOUELLE Kombi who is also the official representative of the Head of State, Paul Biya at the funeral.
The 84-year-old artist known as the "golden voice of Cameroon." Nzie died May 24 2016 in Yaounde.

Residents around Logbaba-Ndogpassi natural gas treatment plant are in protest,
complaining the non-compliance by the authorities of promises made during the installation of the Gas production plant in January of 2012.
Unemployed youths were seen on the streets around the plant with placards brandishing major demands.
The administrative and security authorities in Douala, including the police commissioner of the fourteenth district and the company officials descended at the scene of the protest, "The Commissioner ordered the protesters to free the streets.In response, local residents rejected the orders and further expressed their frustration.
Negotiations were still going on however at the time of filing this report for a solution between the protesters and authorities.
The angry residents say the Gaz plant authorities promised to create jobs for residents but up till today,they feel abandoned as most of the youths around the area have not benefited from the existence of the plant. During the installation of the plant back in 2012,employment priority was promised to the locals.
Logbaba’s natural gas reserves are estimated to be over 212 billion cubic metres. To date, only 14 to 16 million cubic metres are being mined per day.

Four suspected fake price controllers are presently in detention at the Special Unit for the Control of Services at in the General Delegation of National Security in Yaounde. The suspects who are yet to be identified were arrested at 2:00 p.m. on Friday July 15, 2016 in Nkolfoulou, Soa, in the Mefou and Afamba Division of the Centre Region. Some of the traders immediately informed the Control Brigade of the Ministry of Trade in the Mefou and Afamba Division who immediately informed the police.
Reports say, the suspected fake price controllers who claimed to be on an official mission of the Ministry of Trade harassed traders in the area and seized some of their goods such as cartons of whisky, wine, and other household goods. According to the reports, the fake price controllers produced fake documents showing their belonging to an Association for the Protection of the Rights of Consumers. The group is made up of two men, one woman and was accompanied by a police officer who works in the Centre Region.
One of the suspects disappeared into thin air while at the police station. A manhunt was immediately put in place to get the fugitive. Sources in Soa said the suspected fake controllers have been harassing traders in the Mfoundi Division for the past three weeks and were only caught in the fourth week in the Mefou and Afamba Division.
The Centre Regional Delegate for Trade, Ombele Nama Alain called on traders to be vigilant and to always verify whether the service note provided by the controllers have been signed by the chief of brigade for trade before attending to them. He said traders should always be in direct contact with the chief of brigade so that each time there is a control team before them they will be able to contact the brigade to be sure that the team is legal. He also called on the public to report to the services of the Ministry of Trade in case of any fake products for action to be taken.

Cameroonian teenager Horlane Tcheutchoua trembles with fear as she was "rounded up" on July 4th 2016, and taken to the central police station in the city of Bafoussam, the capital of the Western region of Cameroon.The teenage girl was on the streets of the city selling boiled eggs against a prefectoral decree contained in an order signed by the Senior Divisional Officer for that region.
The girl presumed to be about 12 years of age was caught with fear and uncertainty as to her fate while in custody at the Police station.The father, John Henry T, had come to the station to negotiate her freedom.
After talks with the police authorities, he was forced to sign a letter presented to him by the Senior Police Commissioner Levi Diffo, in which he had to undertake not to let his daughter to go selling on the streets anymore. On that same day, 36 other parents had to go through the same procedure. 36 children, had to spend some time behind bars while their parents signed the undertakings.
The week before, on June 28 specifically, 30 other children had been taken in custody under similar circumstances.
The operation comes within the framework of the implementation of a prefectural order signed on June 16th prohibiting minors under 14 years of conducting businesses within the Mifi department.
According to this arête, the Divisional Officers for Bafoussam I, II and III, the Commissioner of the Bafoussam Central Police Station and the Commander of the Bafoussam Gendarmerie Territorial Group will all ensure the effective of the ban of minors doing Business on the streets of the Division.

The Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, Michel Ange Angouing who is coordinating the recruitments is calling on interested Cameroonians to avail themselves of this opportunity by getting updated information in the ministry and within the ten regional delegations.

The Douala City Council is determined to get rid of unkempt streets. It has therefore engaged the services of 900 students to clean up the city to the satisfaction of visitors and residents. Since Douala is the major gateway into Cameroon and given that the female African Cup of Nations is around the corner, the Government Delegate to the Douala City Council, Dr Fritz Ntone Ntone, challenged the 900 students to make the port city more attractive for visitors to desire to come again after the tournament.
Since the inception of "Occupation Jeunes" in 2008, at least 2,000 youth have been given the opportunity to work every year. Some 1,022 youths earned 50,000 FCFA each during the first four editions from February to May 2016. The money is intended to enable students supplement the purchase of school needs. The holiday job scheme was initiated to alleviate poverty and boost family incomes.
