Three people were killed on Wednesday, 08.March 2017 at about 8:00 p.m in Yaoundé, after being stroked by a train on the railroad tracks in the neighbourhood of Elig-Edzoa.
According to a statement from the Cameroon train rail network company (Camrail), a train, returning from the rail renewal yard, at the entrance to the city of Yaoundé stroke passers-by on the railroad tracks. The individuals had been trespassing on the tracks, when the tragedy happened. This information was confirmed by eyewitnesses at the scene.
The official death toll stands at three deaths. The toll which was earlier reported as 4 was later corrected, with officials saying that the number of fatalities was actually three..
According to the eyewitnesses, another body was abducted by a family before the arrival of relief, while a third individual who sustained severe injuries, died in a hospital, Camrail said.
Others who sustained injuries were ferried to local hospitals within Yaounde were they are currently being treated. In total, three deaths were recorded. Two of the three bodies were deposited at the morgue of the Central Hospital of Yaounde.
Securing the rail-tracks is a real problem in Cameroon. Local inhabitants often use rail-tracks as short cuts to move around the city. This situation is not conducive to the optimum safety of railway traffic in Cameroon's capital-Yaounde.
As a result, Camrail constantly reminds through awareness campaigns that the crossing of the tracks is rigorously prohibited as stipulated by the Cameroonian highway code.
The incident is under investigation.Further details were not available Thursday morning.

ISIS has claimed responsibility for an attack on a Kabul military hospital by gunmen disguised as doctors who breached the facility and battled security forces for hours.
More than 30 people died and dozens more were injured, the Afghan defence ministry said.
The attack began with a suicide bombing at the rear of the hospital complex in the Afghan capital. Officials said at least three gunmen dressed as medical staff then entered the 400-bed Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan facility and took up positions on the upper floors.
A second explosion was heard as Afghan special forces engaged the gunmen and “heavy fighting” ensued, a defence ministry spokesman said. An earlier death toll of three was revised upwards after security forces carried out checks in the aftermath of the fighting.
Isis’s Afghan wing has claimed responsibility, according to a report by the Isis-affiliated Amaq news agency. A November suicide attack on a crowded mosque, claimed by the same group, killed more than 30 people and wounded dozens.
Isis was also accused by local officials of killing six Red Cross employees in an ambush on a convoy in northern Afghanistan last month. It has claimed at least two other attacks on minority Shias in Kabul since last July.
Afghanistan’s president, Ashraf Ghani, said the latest attack “trampled on all human values”. “In all religions, a hospital is regarded as an immune site and attacking it is attacking the whole of Afghanistan,” he said, during an address in Kabul for International Women’s Day.
Abdul Qadir, a hospital employee, told Reuters he saw a gunman dressed in a white doctor’s coat take out an AK-47 assault rifle and open fire, killing at least one patient and a hospital worker.Reuters reported that patients could be seen climbing out of the building and sheltering on window ledges outside the hospital, across the road from the heavily fortified US embassy.
Isis has been active in Afghanistan since 2014 but maintains a far smaller presence – and poses far less of an existential threat to the Afghan state – than the Taliban, which continues to be responsible for the majority of violence in the country.
Hundreds of US airstrikes in the past year have helped to limit the group’s influence to a handful of districts in and around the eastern Nangarhar province, though Wednesday’s attack showed it continues to have the ability to strike outside those areas.
Gen John Nicholson, the most senior US commander in Afghanistan, has claimed American efforts have killed about one-third of Isis’s fighters and shrunk its territory by two-thirds.
The Afghan affiliate’s leader, Hafiz Saeed Khan, was killed in a US drone strike in August.
The group’s support among local people has also been limited by its trademark brutality and imposition of a blinkered vision of Islam – including bans on smoking and poppy cultivation and the annulment of government-officiated weddings – in spite of local customs.
Analysts have put the number of Isis fighters in Afghanistan at up to 2,000, though a close assessment is difficult to establish because of the uncertain toll of casualties and success of recruitment drives.
The Taliban claimed an attack last week on a police station and intelligence service office in the capital that killed and wounded dozens.

Southern Cameroonians (Ambazonians) the world over will be concerting in a Three (3) day Conference in Brussels - the capital of Europe, from March 31 - April 2, 2017 on the Theme: ‘‘Building Global Synergy towards the Restoration of the Statehood of the former British Southern Cameroons”
The objectives of the Conference shall be a come together of all Southern Cameroonians (Ambazonians) of goodwill, all stakeholders involved in the Restoration of the Statehood and Independence of the former British Southern Cameroons, all the leaders of any movements involved in the liberation of Southern Cameroons (Ambazonia) at home and abroad.
This Conference is being organised by Southern Cameroonians (Ambazonians) in Europe in conjunction with ‘The Consortium’ and will be held abroad instead of at home, for reasons we already know. Given that Nation Building is a Civic Responsibility and State Loyalty is an Obligation, it is therefore our civic responsibility as Southern Cameroonians (Ambazonians) to participate fully and or setup a ‘Coalition of the willing’ in the Building of Our Nation.
In order to successfully build up an outstanding nation, we need visionary, patriotic, selfless and level-headed people. We have a nation under colonial occupation with conspiracy and manipulation from France in particular, some agencies of the United Nations and some of our own greedy and overzealous Southern Cameroons elites and politicians.
The annexed and colonised peoples of the Southern Cameroons (Ambazonians) have suffered for the past 55 years; subjected to numerous forms of atrocities including: the suppression of the rights of association and meetings; suppression of the right to freedom of expression; shutting down of the internet in the entire Southern Cameroons territory; maiming, torture, inhuman and degrading treatment, arbitrary arrests and summary executions.
We are facing the possibility of a genocide being committed by the Government of La Republique du Cameroun against our people. For over five decades, we have complained, protested, wept, mourned, and even tried to accept our fate by requesting a compromise proposal of a federation. Unfortunately, we have only had arrests, maiming, torture, rape, extrajudicial killings/murders, increased exploitation and systematic efforts to eradicate our cultural heritage and complete the process of annexation and wipe out our Anglo-Saxon identity.
Since the early fifties we have risen at different times against the oppressive regime of Cameroun Republic, but the response has been unacceptable brutality. In the wake of the Lawyers and Teachers strike actions, our people have risen from every nook and cranny of the world in one voice. This therefore presents a golden opportunity to Southern Cameroonians (Ambazonians) to achieve the independence we have been yearning for over decades. Hence the objectives of this Southern Cameroon European Conference 2017 shall be to:
1) Define a united front for the struggle of the restoration of Southern Cameroons independence; 2) Harness all efforts and resources both human and material available for this struggle; 3) Put in place an all-inclusive structure that will coordinate this struggle; 4) Outline the role of Ambazonians based at home and in the diaspora towards this struggle; 5) Put in place a robust and accountable fundraising mechanism; 6) Outline a possible roadmap for the struggle with possible alternatives.
In view of all of the above, Ambazonians (Southern Cameroonians) all over Europe, will be meeting in Brussels-Belgium, the European capital and the seat of the European Union for a 3day Conference from March 31 – 2 April 2017.
Information on Conference Registration, Programme and Accommodation will provided in our subsequent correspondences. For all enquiries, write to:

Nigeria has advised its citizens against any non-urgent travel to the United States until Washington clarifies its immigration policy, after several incidents in which people with valid visas were denied entry, a presidential aide said on Monday.
Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, said no reasons were given for the cases over recent weeks in which Nigerians with valid multiple-entry U.S. visas had been denied entry and sent back to Nigeria.
The West African country is not among a group of Muslim-majority countries from which President Donald Trump wants to suspend travel to the United States on security grounds. About half of its 180 million inhabitants are Muslim, and half Christian.
Trump signed a new executive order on Monday to implement a revised version of his travel ban, after his first attempt in January was blocked in the courts.
Dabiri-Erewa did not make any explicit link to the ban, but said Nigerians without any urgent need should "consider rescheduling their trip until there is clarity on the new immigration policy."
International demand for travel to the United States over the coming months has flattened out, reflecting uncertainty over Trump's immigration policy, travel analysis company ForwardKeys said on Monday.

For the third time since November 2016, the Prime Minister Philemon Yang yesterday Monday 06 March 2017 again visited Bamenda to seek ways of resolving the ongoing Anglophone crisis. He held the first meeting of his tour in Bamenda mezam division and appealed to parents to send their children to school so as to avoid poor results at the GCE examinations.
The meeting was attended at the Bamenda congress hall by mostly parents, teachers and religious leaders. “The greatest empowerment we can ever have is education. Don’t give it away for anything. Even if you cannot go out to see your friends and take a beer, do not sacrifice on education, that is the one place to go. It is an embarrassment on the international scene” say PM Philemon Yang.
“The government still has not said single statement to apologize for the massive killings of unarmed civilians.
The arbitrary arrests should stop. Our detainees because of the grievances that the president himself has acknowledged should be freed” says Hon. Fusi Naamukong Wilfred, MP for Mezam North, and the crowd cheers. “And if they are freed, our internet should be restored. When our internet is restored and people are no longer being arbitrarily arrested, we will now start feeling as part of this country” he adds.
Some MPs also called for the demilitarization of Bamenda and some expressed worries over the insecurity of their children saying it might not be safe to send their children to school.
The meeting ended with no clear resolutions as all parties seemed to be demanding for the unconditional release of all those who were arrested and abducted during the months.
Some onlookers called this first day meeting “a Fiasco”
Although school resumption has been slated today 7 of March 2017, it remains unknown whether or not it is going to be effective.
The prime Minister is expected to visit 6 other divisions of the North West region before moving to the south west region for the same expedition.
