Alex Song joined Barcelona from Arsenal in the summer window of 2012 for a fee of £15m, signing a five year contract with the club. He made his Barcelona debut in the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid. The Cameroonian went on to make 39 appearances over two years for the La Liga champions before moving back to Premier League on loan to West Ham ahead of the 2014-15 season.
For the past two seasons, the ex-Arsenal star was on loan back in the Premier League with West Ham United but the Hammers decided this summer not to bring him back on a permanent deal.
However, his time at the Nou Camp is now coming to an end with reports from Sport in Spain claiming that he’s on the verge of joining Rubin Kazan.
In his four years at Barcelona, the 28-year-old midfielder has made 39 appearances in the Spanish top flight, scoring once.
Over the past two years for West Ham, Song has played 40 times in the Premier League but only managed to turn out 12 times in the 2015/16 campaign.

Tottenham will listen to offers for Cameroon International Clinton Njie after agreeing a fee for Marseille's Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, a source close to the Premier League club has told ESPN FC. Njie joined Spurs from £13 million from Lyon last summer but made just eight league appearances, all from the bench, in an injury-hit maiden season in England.
Mauricio Pochettino is said to be unconvinced by Njie and the manager will use the club's upcoming trip to Melbourne, where they face Juventus and Atletico Madrid in the International Champions Cup, to give youngsters Marcus Edwards, Kazaiah Sterling and Shayon Harrison the chance to impress. However, a report in French daily L'Equipe claims Njie has rejected the chance to join Marseille on loan.

Cameroon legend Samuel Eto'o announced that a charity match on Saturday in the Turkish city of Antalya - aimed at raising money for his foundation - was postponed until further notice following an attempted coup in the country.
A number of football stars were already in Antalya to support Eto'o, who currently plays for Turkish side Antalyaspor, including Nigeria's Kanu Nwankwo and Jay-Jay Okocha, Ghana's Stephen Appiah and Michael Essien and Ivory Coast's Kolo Toure.
Ghana-born Marcel Desailly, Carles Puyol, Deco and former England manager Fabio Capello were also there for the game between a World Stars side and Turkey Stars team which had been organised to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the Fundación Privada Samuel Eto'o in Turkey.
Eto'o, a four-time African Footballer of the Year, took to his social media accounts to reveal the charity match had to be cancelled due to the unrest in the country.
"Dear all, I am sorry to announce that for security reasons, Eto'o Charity Match, that was supposed to take place today [Saturday] at 8pm at Antalya Arena, is postponed until further notice. I thank each and everyone of you for your continuous support and count on your understanding. #Love."
As well as Lionel Messi and Didier Drogba, Luis Suarez, Diego Maradona, Neymar, Eden Hazard, Francesco Totti, Xavi, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Andres Iniesta, Demba Ba and Arda Turan were all expected to travel for the game.
Established ten years ago, the Fundación Privada Samuel Eto'o charity was created as a non-profit organisation striving to raise awareness of the needs of the African continent.
Its goal is the protection of children and young people, providing emergency aid and encouraging education, basic health and social inclusion for the disadvantaged in order to help them create opportunities for the future, according to its website.
Eto'o, Cameroon's 54-goal all-time leading scorer, announced his retirement from international football in August 2014.
The former Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter, Chelsea and Everton player made his international debut in 1997 during a 5-0 defeat to Costa Rica.
He went on to become an Olympic gold medallist at Sydney 2000, scoring in the final against Spain to take the match to extra-time and also slotting home his kick in the penalty shoot-out victory.
Eto'o is the leading all-time scorer in the Nations Cup with 18 goals and he appeared at four World Cup finals - 1998, 2002, 2010 and 2014 - playing in eight matches and scoring three goals.
His last match for Cameroon was the 1-0 defeat by Mexico at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The Cameroon national team has registered a significant progress in the July FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking release Thursday July 14.
Based on the ranking, Cameroon that occupied the 58th position last month now stands on the 53rd position after moving up 6 places in the world ranking and 7th in the African map.
The Indomitable Lions now occupy 53rd place in the world rankings and take the 7th place on the African map.
The International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) released this morning 14 July 2016, July ranking. Ranked 58th in June, Cameroon is now behind Algeria (32nd), Côte d’Ivoire (35th), Ghana (36th), Senegal (41), the Egypt (43rd) and Tunisia (45th).
In the world rankings, nothing has moved into the top five made up of Argentina (1), Belgium (2), Colombia (3rd), Germany (4th) and Chile (5th).
Portugal, new European champion gained two places and sixth in the standings. They are followed Euro runners-up France, and integrates the top 10. Spain (-2), Brazil (-2) and Italy (+ 2 ) complete the top 10. Other spectacular comebacks, the Wales of Gareth Bale, semifinalist of Euro gains 15 places in the rankings and ends up 11th spot.
Argentina remain at the summit of the July FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, but only after a tumultuous month of action that resulted in plenty of movement further down.
The impact of three recent major international tournaments – the OFC Nations Cup, Copa America Centenario and UEFA EURO 2016 – is certainly plain to see in a table in which Kosovo are ranked for the first time. A total of 228 ‘A’ internationals contributed to the new order, with those big events in Oceania, Europe and the Americas especially important in propelling nations upwards.
New Zealand emerged as the month’s biggest climbers, moving up a whopping 54 places to 93rd on the back of an OFC Nations Cup victory that both qualified the All Whites for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and furthered their FIFA World Cup™ qualifying ambitions. Portugal will also be heading to Russia 2017 after their shock EURO 2016 triumph, an achievement that resulted in them leapfrogging Spain and Brazil into sixth position.
There was also some small consolation for France, Portugal’s vanquished final opponents, who were among several teams to profit from impressive EURO campaigns. While Les Bleus climbed ten places to a new position of seventh, Poland rose 11 to 16th and there were 12-place jumps for both Iceland and Croatia, who now sit 22nd and 15th respectively.
